Best Way to Bounce Back, Beat the Hoyas

The Orange had a truly bad loss to Pittsburgh on Wednesday coming off of an almost 3 week covid related hiatus. Im talking real bad. Like blowing an 18 point lead and giving up 45 second half points against a team with 3 guys out for virus protocol as well as missing a player with a knee injury who averages a double double. Didnt even get an end of game shot off out of a time out. Im not still thinking about it though. Definitely not wondering why Jimmy let it get tied at 57–57 before calling a time out instead of at 57–50. Or 57–52. Or even 57–54. But what do I know. Not mad about it.

Luckily, Syracuse is getting the perfect chance to get their mojo back. They return to the dome, have their feet back under them and have the opportunity to jump on a reeling 3–7 Georgetown team. The Hoyas. Ya mothas a Hoya. Are coming in on a 4 game losing streak, so there is blood in the water if you’re the Orange and they need to attack them early. Sure Georgetown will be fired up for what will always be a rivalry game, and their recent losses have not been blowouts by any stretch, but 4 losses in a row is 4 losses in a row.

Cuse is always going to be shooting 3 in bunches, but they got trigger happy Wednesday. Without Robert Braswells 4–5, SU shot a measly 8–33 (24.5%) from behind the arc. That, coupled with Guerrier and Dolezaj only taking a combined 7 field goals, is going to equal a bad offensive day. We will chalk it up to a long time off the court. It did show how important Cheese (Guerrier) is to the line up. He got in early foul trouble which lead to just 17 minutes on the floor and 2 shots. Thats probably the difference in the game, but the rest of the team needs to step up just a little bit in that game and they probably win. Not mad though.

This is one of my all time favorite SU photos. Hang 3 in the rafters.

Ill always hate Georgetown. I think all of Syracuse will always hate Georgetown. First time I ever stormed a court was at the Carrier Dome after SU upset the Hoyas when I was a freshman in high school. Georgetown is the perfect medicine to get back on track.
