Little screwdriver action for Orange today. A Saturday noon tip vs. #16 Virginia Tech. Last year when the Hokies headed north they got their first ever win at the Carrier Dome so let’s hope they don’t start a streak today. Syracuse really needs a win vs. a ranked opponent on their resume and this is first of back to back games against a top 20 team so now is a good time to get a couple.
SU absolutely smoked Miami earlier this week in what was a great 40 minutes of basketball for the Orange. Buddy Boeheim and Joe Girard are really started to cook and both had 23 points on Tuesday. Quincy Guerrier added 18 and 8 on a stout 8–10 from the field. The zone held The U to under 40% shooting and caused 17 turnovers. SU was up 14 at half and stepped on the Hurricanes throat extending their lead to 26 by the end of the game. When the Orange are getting performances like that from the trifecta of Buddy, JG3 & Cheese on the offensive end, and don’t relent in the second half on the defensive end they are a very good basketball team. It would be nice to see them start a streak of their own after ending the two game skid they when on last week.
The Orange are -1 and the over under is 141.5. Its very odd an 8–4 team is favorites vs a ranked 11–2 team but who am I to question Vegas. With that being said, Im rolling with the boys. Virginia Tech as ranked dogs is probably juicy to the public so i’ll fade it. Pour yourself some Titos and a shot of OJ and enjoy some early SU action.
