Tony Hawk is the absolute man. He is the epitome of cool. There might not be anyone who has done fame and fortune like Mr. Hawk. He really deserves to be in talks of the all time GOATs but that’s a different story. Now I don’t know if this video is old or new, borrowed or blue, but I do know I had never seen it before and that it is awesome.
Tony Hawk just cruising around California with a car full of merch telling people to do a kickflip. That’s just a fun wholesome video. I assume Tony Hawk is still a legend to anyone who hops on a skateboard, so when you are just hanging with Ray Baker bonking some rails or carving the bowl (not drugs) and he pulls up and tells you to do a kickflip you have no other option but to land a kickflip. I have landed one singular kick flip in may day as a rebel skater boy and I think it was on accident, but if for some reason I had a skateboard on me and Tony Hawk told me to do a kickflip I would attempt a kickflip until I either landed it or knocked myself unconscious from my skull crashing to the pavement (the more likely outcome.) Tony Hawk saying “Hey, do a kickflip!” over and over again is also hysterical.
Some of the faces and reactions from these people were just phenomenal. Literally holy shits. And they all shined too. Landing tricks left and right. A girl even tackled what looked to be her first trip around the bowl unassisted on Tony Hawks encouragement. Can you even imagine that memory? Getting the courage to try to skate and the best skater of all time is cheering you on telling you to go for it. That’s like Tiger Woods showing up to your local driving range and telling you that you hit one pure. Speaking of golf Tony Hawk would be on my big board for a dream 4 foursome. I don’t know if he golfs but 18 holes with that guy would be so much fun.
Anytime there’s a Tony Hawk story that pops up in the news it’s always a great one. People telling Tony Hawk that he looks like Tony Hawk is like the inverse version of SVP look-alikes. The fact Tony Hawk is 52 and can still rip 720s is ridiculous. Tony Hawk was the pioneer of the golden age of skateboarding and the X-games and one of the favorite non-big 4 sport athletes of a generation. I wish I had an original playstation to dust off and play some Tony Hawk Pro Skater. Instead ill just listen to the soundtrack.
